Polinnov’U: A New Regional Accelerator to Turn Research into Innovation in the Hauts-de-France Region

How to Accelerate the Transformation of Public Research Findings into Innovations […]

How can we accelerate the transformation of public research results into concrete innovations capable of addressing the challenges of competitiveness, technological sovereignty, and regional industrial development?

This is the vision behind Polinnov’U, the new regional showcase for university innovation in the Hauts-de-France region, which was inaugurated in the PLACE building at EuraTechnologies as part of AI Week, in the presence of Michelle Bubenicek, Vice-Rector for Higher Education, Research, and Innovation for the Hauts-de-France region, Bruno Sportisse, President and CEO of Inria; Régis Bordet, President of the University of Lille; Stéphane Huot, Director of the Inria Center at the University of Lille; Edmond Abi-Aad, President of the University of Litoral Côte d’Opale; Abdelhakim Artiba, President of the Polytechnic University of Hauts-de-France; Anne Daguet-Gagey, President of the University of Artois; Denis Postel, President of the University of Picardie Jules Verne; Valérie Six, Hauts-de-France Regional Councilor for Innovation; as well as all the leaders of the partner institutions and organizations involved in this regional initiative.

Accelerate the transition from research to innovation and business

Supported collectively by the Lille University Innovation Hub (PUI Lille), the regional PUIlike initiatives, SATT Nord, and all partner institutions, Polinnov’U is poised to become a strategic hub dedicated to accelerating technology transfer and bridging the gap between public research and the business world.

Designed as a unifying space located at the heart of EuraTechnologies, Polinnov’U brings together in a single location key players from the fields of research, higher education, innovation, and entrepreneurship—including Inria, the University of Lille, and SATT Nord—to facilitate the emergence of interdisciplinary projects with high potential for technology transfer and to support their transition into concrete applications. On the ground floor of the building, the exhibition space called “Interface”—which already features an Inria startup corner—will host, on a larger scale and for businesses, demonstrators based on research produced by all partners, modeled after the booths featured in Xperium, the research promotion space currently under development at the University of Lille. The upper floors are ultimately expected to house SATT Nord, business developers, and the Inria Startup Studios program. Dedicated spaces will be set aside for the two PUI-like units of the A2U alliance and the UPHF.

The goal is to strengthen synergies among laboratories in the Hauts-de-France region, companies, startups, and institutional partners, as well as between the Inria Center at the University of Lille and SATT Nord, in order to accelerate the emergence of innovations that create value for the region.

Making Academic Innovation a Driver of Regional Competitiveness

This collective momentum reflects a shared ambition: to make the Hauts-de-France region better able to transform its scientific potential into technological innovations, new business ventures, and industrial partnerships.
