On the occasion of the Innovative SHS 2019 trade show, IKONIKAT 3D is being deployed at the Louvre-Lens museum.

A live broadcast from the museum will be organized at the Innovatives stand on May 15.

IKONILAT 3D is a unique augmented reality and spatial graphic annotation process that allows museum visitors to highlight the visual and iconic aspects of sculptures that appeal to them.

It transposes our annotation system into three dimensions using IKONIKAT tracing: users equipped with a tablet can designate the elements that stand out to them on the sculpture they are viewing. All of the tracings combined can thus provide a visualization of how the postures and expressions are received.

These results can help us understand what museum visitors look at and how they do so. IKONIKAT 3D aims to reveal the diversity of perspectives when viewing a sculpture and, by extension, any three-dimensional object.

IKONIKAT 3D is the result of research by:

  • Mathias Blanc, National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) – IRHIS
  • Nicolas Bremard, UDL-CRISTAL
  • Julien Wylleman, UDL – CRISTAL
