The SATT Network is once again partnering with Innovatives SHS, a trade show promoting the humanities and social sciences, which will take place on May 15 and 16, 2019, at Lille Grand Palais.

The Innovative SHS

In 2019, the CNRS Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences is organizing the fourth editionof Innovatives SHS, a trade show that showcases the ability of humanities and social sciences laboratories to meet society's expectations and promote the transfer of their research findings to local authorities, associations, large industrial groups, and SMEs.

At around forty stands, researchers and engineers present software and multimedia tools, applications, serious games, and innovations of all kinds, particularly in the fields of health, land use planning, heritage promotion, and education. Enriched each year with new themes, this year's show places a strong emphasis on digital technology.

Innovative initiatives and workshops

Innovatives SHSis once again promoting exchanges between exhibitors and visitors this year through "Innov'actions," interactive debates based on the principle of "speed dating." They will cover areas ranging from heritage and health to learning and avatar/human relations, mainly through games. The 2019 edition will also feature two "focus" sessions, one on "smart and connected cities" and the other on "participatory science," which will bring together researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and representatives of local authorities and associations.

Some examples of projects presented at this fourth edition:
– software for writing in hieroglyphics,
– an application for tracking language development in children,
– an interactive online consultation platform that facilitates consensus building,
– a collaborative web browsing service designed to share content without relying on GAFAM,
– algorithms that can decipher a person's emotional state based on their movements, – video games to measure the skills of people with autism in order to facilitate their recruitment,
– a geovisualization tool that shows the social composition of a neighborhood throughout the day, which can help refine territorial diagnoses beyond the resident population.

Some of the projects presented were developed through collaborations with large groups, such as Continental on the theme of autonomous vehicles and Decathlon on the theme of sports activities, but also with companies specializing in serious games (Tralaler) and the production of analytical devices (Freiberg Instruments). Others are the result of collaborations with the public health sector (AP-HP) or with the public and private sectors involved in urban planning (BRL Ingénierie and Rennes Métropole).
