Making scientific research topics accessible to the general public in three minutes is the challenge set for young doctoral students participating in the My Thesis in 180 Seconds competition. In this international competition, each doctoral student must give a clear, concise, and convincing presentation on their research project in three minutes. All with the support of a single slide!

History
The My Thesis in 180 Seconds competition is inspired by the Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MTMC), which was first held in 2008 at the University of Queensland, Australia.
The Quebec competition is the first of its kind in the French language and has been in existence since 2012.
The CNRS and the University of Lille, in partnership with other universities in the Hauts-de-France region, have been participating in the My Thesis in 180 Seconds competition since 2014 and jointly organize the preliminary rounds and regional finals.
Organization
The My Thesis in 180 Seconds competition takes place every year and is organized in four stages:
- A Hauts-de-France regional final. The two doctoral students selected by the jury and the public will represent their university and laboratory in the national semi-final of the competition.
- A national semifinal to select the 16 candidates who will participate in the national final.
- The national final will determine which doctoral student will represent France in the final stage.
- The international final will enable participants to engage with other audiences in other venues, to meet new people, and to confront the universality of research.
