Technology
BIOVERSIGHT technology is a biomonitoring solution that uses zebra mussels (a bivalve mollusk) as indicator species, which are recognized as being particularly effective for monitoring biological and chemical contaminants in aquatic environments.
Applications
This standardized, easy-to-use diagnostic tool will help water managers and industrialists prevent risks associated with water quality degradation by identifying pollution levels for a wide range of chemical contaminants (metals, pesticides, PCBs, hydrocarbons, etc.) and microbiological contaminants (bacteria, viruses).
Benefits
The use of this bioassay offers several advantages: • Spatial and temporal comparability of measurements thanks to standardized organisms and exposure conditions, • Ease of interpreting results, • Control over contaminant exposure conditions (location, duration), • Detection of contaminants throughout the entire exposure period,
Maturity
Starting in January 2026, ELIDREO will deploy its biosurveillance-based pollutant detection technology for the first time at several sites in France: • in the Paris region, to assess viral contamination of water as part of SIAAP’s MeSeine Innovation program; • in Normandy, as part of two projects: • to assess the impact of sediment deposition resulting from dredging operations necessary for navigation, in partnership with HAROPA. Propose a methodology for deploying the Dreissena bioassay as part of long-term monitoring of estuarine contamination. These initial operational deployments mark a key milestone in the commercialization of the technology.
