"In 2016, SATT Nord reached a milestone in its young existence. In four years of activity, it has invested in more than100 maturation projectsand protected more than 100 IP titles(patents, software). These investments are the result of intensive support for researchers to help them identify the economic potential of their research results; nearly 450 project opportunities have been identified in this way. By supporting 194 research units from 15 institutions in most scientific fields, SATT Nord provides researchers with a local commercialization service on a daily basis.
With a growing number of projects reaching the end of their technological maturation, technology transfer is taking off; of the 17 technologies transferred since SATT Nord was created, 9 were transferred in 2016.
In addition, 2016 also saw an increase in maturation and transfer activity in synergy with business creation projects. While four startups have been created to date to exploit technologies licensed by SATT Nord, numerous maturation projects have been initiated with a view to creating businesses, in collaboration with regional incubators.
Positioned as a local player between public researchers in northern France, Hauts-de-France, and Champagne-Ardenne, and regional and national companies, SATT Nord thus contributes simultaneously to the promotion of French public research and economic development through innovation in the region and throughout the country.
