On December 4, 2019, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, in partnership with Bpifrance Financement, is launching the 22nd edition of the i-Lab innovation competition, a real springboard for French deep tech entrepreneurs.
Created in 1999, the i-Lab Innovation Competition was born out of the desire of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation to promote the results of public research through the creation of technology companies. It is open to anyone with an innovative project to create a technology-intensive business. Organized in partnership with Bpifrance Financement, the i-Lab Innovation Competition supports the best projects with significant financial assistance and tailored support.
In 2020, the i-Lab competition, funded by the ministry and supplemented by the Innovation and Industry Fund, will provide up to €20 million in support for the creation of deep tech start-ups.
The grant, intended to finance the research and development program for the finalization of the innovative technological product, process, or service, may reach up to €600,000. Project leaders of businesses that have not yet been created or that are less than two years old are eligible to apply. Applicants who hold capital in another company must demonstrate their ability to invest fully in the project presented.
Projects, regardless of their stage of development, must involve the creation of a company based in France and using innovative technology. For English speakers, the application may be written in English.
Candidates must register online by completing the electronic application form, exclusively on theplatform operated by Bpifrance Financement,from Wednesday, December 4, 2019, to Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at 12 noon.
