Health research in the Nord-Pas de Calais region is concentrated in the Lille metropolitan area. It is a major focus of research in the region, with Lille 2 University playing a central role.
Integrating its laboratories and equipment of excellence certified under the PIA (Investment for the Future Program), Lille 2 University has developed strategic research areas in the field of health: research on cancer, diabetes, infectious diseases, neurological and mental illnesses. More broadly, Lille 2 is also recognized for its cutting-edge research on drugs, based on the development of innovative biological models. The health research carried out by Lille 2 University is based on strong partnerships, mainly with the Lille CRU, Inserm, and the Pasteur Institute of Lille. Other partners are also involved, such as the CNRS, Lille 1 University, Lille 3 University, Littoral Côte d'Opale University, and Artois University.
Lille 2's partnerships with businesses are managed by the Société d'Accélération du Transfert de Technologie (SATT Nord), to which the university has entrusted the management of its patent portfolio, as well as the economic exploitation of its research results and the use of its platforms and expertise. In coordination with SATT Nord, Lille 2 University is committed to actively contributing to the economic and societal development of its region.
