CIRRIOS, a Breton startup specializing in the Internet of Things (IoT), has signed a licensing agreement with SATT Nord for the exclusive use of Connectrans technology in the field of connected vehicles. This license will enable CIRRIOS to develop and market software solutions for any application benefiting from the immediate exchange and synchronization of data in a mobile environment, particularly for road maintenance and operation, public transport, agriculture, etc.
Connectrans technology, developed in collaboration with the Ardennes Departmental Council to optimize and streamline winter road maintenance, will also be offered to other Departmental Councils, as well as highway companies, for the same purposes.
This project was initiated in the CReSTIC laboratories at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA) thanks to the expertise of Professor Lisan Afilal's team and funded by SATT Nord as part of its maturation projects and the Champagne-Ardenne region. Connectrans enables the connection and management of all types of sensors (atmospheric and physical measurements, images and videos, sounds, etc.) within vehicle fleets in a geolocated manner and ensures the bidirectional transfer of collected data, synchronously or asynchronously, via a single virtual communication bus.
The technology takes the form of an interoperable box that can accommodate several different input and output systems. Onboard equipment is automatically recognized and connected; it can be monitored and updated remotely. Connectrans thus avoids the redundancy and proliferation of current systems imposed by their lack of openness. From optimizing business processes to reducing operating costs and improving user service, there are many benefits to using Connectrans.
A proof of concept was carried out on vehicles belonging to the Ardennes Departmental Council responsible for winter road maintenance (road conditions in winter).
