On May 16, during the VivaTechnology trade show, the SATT Network signed two memoranda of understanding with Chinese innovation stakeholders. The first was with OuiCrea, a Franco-Chinese cross-border incubation program, and the Bay Valley Innovation Center of the National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center (NETC), and the second was with the University of Science and Technology of Shanghai (USST).

Convinced that it is in the mutual interest of innovative companies and French and Chinese public research institutes to cooperate in the field of technology transfer, the SATT Network has signed two Memoranda of Understanding with three recognized Chinese players in the field of innovation:

  • OuiCrea and the Bay Valley Innovation Center of the National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center: withthe aim of improving the support services ("soft landing") available to French and Chinese companies wishing to access the markets or innovative technologies of the other country. This cooperation will take the form of an exchange of information on their experience in advising and supporting innovative start-ups, particularly with regard to public support systems available to start-ups and entrepreneurs.
  • Shanghai University of Science and Technology (SUST) in orderto create the conditions that will enable the emergence of an international technology transfer network and establish stable, long-term cooperation between China and France.

The agreement was signed at the VivaTechnology trade show in the presence of Marc Gillmann, Deputy Director of the Research Valorization Program at the General Secretariat for Investment, Prime Minister's Office, and Sun Yuming, Minister Counselor for Science and Technology, Chinese Embassy in France.

"These agreements are strategic for France and China because they will enable entrepreneurs from both countries to identify qualified networks to support and develop their businesses in France and China. As a first step, we want to map all existing cooperation between our two countries in the field of research and innovation. This assessment is a first step. In a second phase, we want to find synergies and practical cases that will enable us to share best practices in technology transfer and, where appropriate, to foster the emergence of Franco-Chinese companies capable of developing our common interests. Much remains to be done in the field of innovation and technology transfer between France and China. The signing of these agreements is a major expression of interest in building joint projects," explains Philippe Nérin, President of the SATT Network.

"China and France attach great importance to fundamental research and the commercialization of research results. The signing of these two Memoranda of Understanding establishes a cooperative relationship between professional technology transfer institutions (SATT and NETC), universities (USST), and incubators (Ouicrea) in France and China. This will enable the exchange of know-how and successful experiences in technology transfer between the two countries, promote the commercialization of university research results, and support innovative startups in their development and internationalization. In the long term, our aim is to establish a comprehensive platform for Franco-Chinese collaboration in the field of technology commercialization," adds Tianlun Li, President of OuiCréa.
