On Monday, October 30, 2023, the EIC announced that it had selected 47 companies following the third selection round of its accelerator program in June 2023. They were selected from among 140 companies that were interviewed by juries "composed of experienced investors and entrepreneurs" from a total of 648 applications. The winners will receive a total of €350 million in grants and equity investments.
France ranks first, with 12 companies selected, representing 25% of the winners. This new selection reflects the "strong performance of engineering and technology companies."
Among the winners was the startup Aurora Cold Plasma Sterilization, supported by SATT Nord.
This award is a testament to Aurora's groundbreaking advances in sterilization technology, which:
– Protects patients from potential contamination by reusable medical devices that could not previously be sterilized.
– Promotes the introduction of new medical devices that previously did not have an effective sterilization process.
– introduces a sterilant that does not pose a threat to human health or the environment and is energy efficient.
The EIC Accelerator is the cornerstone of the Horizon Europe funding program (2021-2027) initiated by the European Commission (EC) and the European Innovation Council (EIC). Its goal is to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), mid-cap companies, and innovators launch their revolutionary ideas, technologies, and products.
