Device for short-range pedestrian detection in vehicles
The device developed uses a capacitive sensor in the front of a vehicle to detect pedestrians (by modifying the electric field created by the sensor at close range) and trigger a protective device (e.g., airbag).
The capacitive sensor, combined with the signal processing software developed, effectively detects the presence and distance of pedestrians.
- Short-range detection and low sensitivity to the environment
- Selectivity of pedestrian detection via obstacle signature analysis
- Optimized analysis of the approach (distance, vehicle speed)
- Ease of integration and implementation of sensory elements (metal screen)
