Now in its fifth year, BioFIT brings together 1,300 participants (pharma, biotech, in vitro diagnostics companies, R&D services, as well as TTOs, academics, and investors) who now meet annually with the same goal: to forge new partnerships, promote the emergence of public/private projects, and intensify licensing flows.
This year's program includes several highlights:
A business convention at the heart of the event
The partnering platform allows business meetings to be scheduled in advance (more than 9,000 requests in 2015 and 2,500 meetings scheduled) and also highlights licensing opportunities.
A rich program of conferences, led by 60 international speakers
Drawing on the latest topics in life sciences, BioFIT conferences once again offer participants the opportunity to meet and exchange opinions and expertise on issues such as intellectual property and technology transfer, early-stage innovation financing, and best practices in collaborative research. This year, the organizers have worked to revamp the format of these round tables to make them even more interactive.
Presentation Sessions
In addition to the conferences, another event is eagerly awaited this year: the "Presentation Sessions." These sessions are aimed at three different profiles. The "Start-up Slams" allow young entrepreneurs who are in the process of creating a spin-off from public research, or who have already created one, to present their business plan to an audience of professionals and a jury of experts. The "Science Slams" are intended for researchers, who will be able to present their R&D projects to an audience of pharmaceutical and biotech companies, technology transfer and commercialization organizations, investors, and a jury of experts, and thus receive valuable advice and feedback and, why not, find their future partners. Finally, the "Licensing Opportunity Presentations" offer technology transfer professionals the opportunity to present their innovative technologies resulting from public research with the aim of finding future partners.
An exhibition
While the business convention is the heart of the event, the exhibition is its lifeblood. The fifth edition of BioFIT will bring together 90 exhibitors, who will gather to showcase their latest innovations or organize business meetings in a relaxed, informal setting.
Events within the event
With BioFIT leading to other events in its wake, some have already signed up to host their meetings during BioFIT, covering a variety of topics such as diabetes (EGID Symposium, 4th edition of IDEA Summit), oncology (SIRIC ONCOLille Day), technological innovation (Technomarket), and public/private collaboration (AFSSI Conference, 3rd edition).
