A2PER: Physiological joint actuator for an exoskeleton designed for gait rehabilitation

Description

Can be used on non-medical exoskeletons and isokinetic exercise machines

This solution could be applied to the upper limbs

A2PER applies a pair of forces to the segment located downstream of the mobilized joint

(1 active degree of rotational freedom engaged, leaving 5 passive/free degrees of freedom), allowing:

  • Cancellation of the two components of the applied torque

  • No strain on the joint

  • Physiological function of the joint, with its natural kinematics preserved

  • No adjustments required / saves time

  • Freedom for members to follow their own narrative

  • Solution designed for post-stroke rehabilitation

The mechanical transmission of the engine cut-off can be achieved by:

  • From the pelvis to the thigh (adjacent segments)

  • From the pelvis to the leg (distal segments)

  • From an external support to any part (manipulandum)
