PRODYNOV: Third-generation photosensitizer (PS) for the treatment of cancers that overexpress folate receptors (ovary, liver, pancreas) using photodynamic therapy (PDT)

Description

Prodynov is a third-generation photosensitizer (PS).
It targets folate receptors that are overexpressed in cancer cells of the ovary, liver, and pancreas.
The proof-of-concept studies conducted to date have focused on peritoneal carcinomatosis.

When illuminated by a dedicated light-delivery device, this photosensitizer exhibits a three-part mechanism of action:

  • Fluorescence-guided visualization of cancer cells to facilitate surgical removal
  • Lysis of tumor cells that cannot be reached surgically
  • Activation of the immune system
